ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the process for rolling out a new literacy program. It includes: developing a curriculum map, creating an assessment plan, designing year-long professional learning, creating a coaching cycle, and rolling out the new curriculum. The summer workgroups collaborate to develop a year-long action plan for unrolling the curriculum and providing professional learning and coaching. Considerations for this work include: areas of the curriculum that require new or shifting instructional practices, grade-level focus areas, instructional practices that were determined weaker in the survey, etc. Work groups are established for developing grade-level scope and sequence with curriculum map and developing/refining benchmark assessments. The chapter discusses the professional learning plan and coaching expectations.
