ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 focuses on goal-setting and coping with creative abrasion, two key competencies necessary for successful intercultural collaboration and for grasping the importance of global challenges. Communication and teamwork are necessary for achieving conversational depth; effectively brainstorming ideas; exchanging substantive feedback; and working together toward possible solutions. The first half of the chapter offers preparatory activities for the projects in the second half of the chapter. Projects are more complex and intense than the activities offered in previous chapters. Chapter 6 builds upon the book’s preceding activities and should be used only after your team has had an opportunity to practice coordinating communication and creation across time differences while cultivating trust and communication skills. These activities will help your remote team specify both attainable and challenging goals for creating something together.
