ABSTRACT

285 Summary

The aim of this chapter is to introduce a discussion around pedagogy for transforming mobile user-generated content (UGC) to a more autonomous and complete subfield of mobile journalism that I call user-generated story (UGS). This chapter shifts the lens from a techno-determinist view to the importance of digital storytelling skills and reflectivity. In essence, it attempts to bring some order to the complex mobile space. This chapter, which discusses issues related to mojo training, distinguishes between the various forms of mojo training; investigates a multimedia storytelling view, specifically at secondary school; discusses how mojo might be introduced into the tertiary journalism curriculum; summarises a pedagogical approach and an evaluation scaffold; and introduces various ethical issues that need further consideration.
