ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on brain basics related to teaching students about stress and how the brain responds. When students understand brain wiring, how thoughts influence neuropathway connections, and the connection between mind and body, they will likely feel empowered to make healthy choices and can better cope with life’s demands. The chapter will offer readers mindful activities that teach how the brain works, drawing upon the work of biologist John Medina, neuropsychologist Rick Hanson, psychiatrist Dan Siegel, and psychologist Jim Hopper.
