ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the trend of the theories of technological determinism and humanization. Immersive communication, the master of all media forms and the new communication paradigm, is one of the more products of the technological development. As a medium or form of communication, immersive communication itself is a way of being closest to human nature, because it “naturally” puts people at the center of every media environment and naturally disseminates the information that is most needed. Humans in immersive communication are also the content of immersive communication. Immersive communication contains the functions of all previous media, such as the mobile phone and the Internet, in order to tear down the walls of all previous media spaces and build a polysemous, fully featured new space. The chapter presents major theories of technological determinism and the humanization trend as its main framework and analyzes the inevitability and connotations of the emergence of immersive communication.
