ABSTRACT

This chapter explores formulating an action plan. The expectation that all teachers should have an automatic involvement in trying to improve their practices is highlighted by a number of educationalists. For example, Hargreaves and Fullan describe the need for teachers to increase their professional capital, both individually and collectively, by engaging in continuous improvement over time and making a difference in the learning and achievement of all students. The process of analysing teachers' data may not be an easy or straightforward one, particularly if they adopt a rigorous and thorough stance in their self-reflection. Analysing teachers' data is an essential element of their action research. The concept of triangulation has been explained as a process that can add rigour and robustness to the validity of teachers' research through providing corroborating evidence from other reliable sources.
