ABSTRACT

In continuing to develop a detailed understanding of the stakeholder relationship model, Chapter 11 evaluates how issue-related attitudes influence stakeholder reactions to crises. These attitudes often most influence how stakeholders evaluate an organization’s performance and intentions during crises. The chapter explores critical theories and concepts connecting stakeholders, organizations, and issues to help us understand how to anticipate stakeholder reactions to different situations. In particular, the chapter argues that when are trying to understand how stakeholders judge organizations, we should understand whether stakeholders believe organizations can affect their own futures and also whether they genuinely want to make changes.
