ABSTRACT

We live in a world full of pattern. We experience it in the clothes we wear, the plants and animals we see and the tasks we do. It is part of our everyday lives. Pattern involves repetition, structure and relationships. Spotting patterns involves identifying these repetitions and structures and the relationships that exist between the different elements. When we recognise a pattern, we can use our reasoning skills to predict the next element in the sequence and make a general statement as to how the pattern will continue.
