ABSTRACT
This chapter brings together key themes of the book concerning the aims of Education, preparation for citizenship, relevance of philosophy with particular reference to John Dewey and the role of the school in the community. Therefore, it enters into political philosophy – nature of ‘community’ and ‘creation of a common culture’, whilst trying to reconcile this with respect for different religious cultures within the wider community.
