ABSTRACT

The premise for Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA+) Analytics is based on the judgment that it makes immediate sense to introduce the UIR model to the higher education sector through data mining and other Internet-based tools. For UIR in the higher education sector, the most immediate problem is how to overcome the absence of tight channels of communication across and among academic departments, administrators, and faculty committees. In today’s information-saturated environment, unless research findings can be provided to the intended users in real time, the information may not be useful. A research study assisted in creating a plan for dealing with Nevada’s rapid population increase, which placed pressure on the postsecondary education system from 2000 to 2003. The exploratory modeling-based findings confirm the qualitative assessment discussed in the first part of this draft report that the Regents need a strategic plan, a road map giving them stronger decision-making tools and a logic for the management of growth.
