ABSTRACT

Parents need to be skillful when it comes to the various issues that arise at different stages of child development. In addition to honing general parenting skills and acquiring tactics and strategies to deal with specific issues, parents will also want to learn basic life skills. These skills include managing anxiety and practicing calmness, manifesting courage and strength, bringing awareness and clarity to situations, and learning how to be really present rather than absent or scattered. Some parents will be dealing with a child who is in what feels to the parent like an extreme state. Parents are in the hardest role, tasked with caring for their children, keeping them safe, and doing their best to have fun with them despite the challenges of everyday living. Some parents will be dealing with a child who is in what feels to the parent like an extreme state. One classic extreme state is “hearing voices.”.
