ABSTRACT

The Quality Assurance Service produced a guide outlining the role of the Module Leader and the responsibilities on Module Leaders for engaging and monitoring students, managing assessment plus evaluating and enhancing the module. A key part of managing a course is induction, and there is often an ‘induction week’ at the start of the academic year to welcome new and returning students. Course information can be provided in a range of formats – paper-based or electronic documentation, web sites, and e-books. Course documentation remains a key source of information for students and can be an important factor in alleviating students’ anxieties and uncertainties about their course. Since most students prepare their assignments in electronic formats it makes sense in many courses to receive work electronically too. Head Start is a Massive Open Online Course produced by library and student services staff to develop students’ information literacy prior to their arrival at university.
