ABSTRACT

The snowfield environment is very suitable for involving the students in helping to set it up. This chapter provides information on equipment needed and instructions for creating the snowfield environment. It discusses the ways to make use of the snowfield environment. The chapter presents an example of how this environment has been used. The example is from a Bamboozle residency with families who have a child with profound and multiple learning disabilities, and it included siblings. To pass through the snowstorm each student took turns to be wheeled in their chair into the wind. The siblings had lots of fun throwing the paper into the wind so that the children in the chairs received a full sensory experience of ‘snow’ and wind in their faces while being whirled around in their chairs.
