ABSTRACT

The snowballs environment is among the simplest and quickest of the environments to set up. The students can be presented with it as a ready-made environment, but they may well also like being involved in making the snowballs. This chapter provides information on equipment needed and instructions for creating the snowballs environment. It discusses the ways to make use of snowballs. The chapter presents an example of how the snowballs environment has been used. This example happened by accident during some work with a group of students who were making up a story. The story involved the group going on a journey across a landscape that included, among other things, a snowfield made from screwed up newsprint and a series of inverted umbrellas hanging from the ceiling of the studio.
