ABSTRACT

The floor covering environment works best when set up before the students arrive. Drawing on the paper is an activity that is accessible to all abilities and gives students, who have profound and multiple learning disabilities, a more level playing field with other students. This chapter provides information on equipment needed and instructions for setting up the floor covering environment. It discusses the ways to make use of floor covering. The chapter presents an example of how this environment has been used. In this example, a very large sheet of newsprint paper was set up on the floor for students, parents and artists to draw patterns on the floor.
