Trenches of World War I

The trenches of World War I environment is very suitable for involving the students in helping to set up the trench. This chapter provides information on equipment needed and instructions for creating the trenches of World War I environment. It discusses the ways to make use of trenches of World War I. The chapter presents an example of how this environment has been used. This example is from a collaboration project between the National Theatre, three London special schools and Bamboozle. The week-long residency was based on the National Theatre’s production of War Horse, a story about a horse requisitioned by the army from a Devon farm to serve as a cavalry horse in France at the start of World War I.
