ABSTRACT

The students can be involved in creating the setting for the garden pond; however it is an activity particularly suited to the profound and multiple learning disabilities end of the spectrum so it might be best to set it up before the students arrive. This chapter provides information on equipment needed and instructions for creating the garden pond environment. It discusses the ways to make use of the garden pond. The chapter presents an example of how this environment has been used. The garden pond environment, with a few modifications, can also be used as a farmyard pond or, as in this example, a rock pool on the beach.
