ABSTRACT

This chapter provides ideas to easily hang things from walls, ceilings or doorways and gain height to give a focus to work. The ideas are designed to simplify the transformation of a room into a rich and exciting multi-sensory environment. What is needed is a number of fixed points around the classroom onto which it is possible to attach string or rope. The ideal is to have suspension points all over the ceiling so that something can be hanged from anywhere. The rope can have various materials suspended from it, such as fabric, a camouflage net or anything reasonably light. The size and security of fixing will determine the weight to hang onto the rope without it sagging too much. Hanging something up over the door or putting a notice on it is an excellent way of indicating that something different is going to happen.
