ABSTRACT

This chapter provides practice in distinguishing between pairs of vowels that learners tend to confuse. The exercise material includes minimal pairs demonstrating the contrast in different phonetic contexts, and in words, phrases, and sentences containing both sounds. The chapter provides a table illustrating the numbers, which refer to the sections dealing with the contrasts in question. It discusses different examples related to full length words, clipped words, and longer words. The chapter also reviews phrases and sentences containing the full length words, clipped words, and longer words. The sentences having full length words are compared with sentences having clipped words.
