ABSTRACT
A cohesive team promotes an atmosphere that nurtures friendship and loyalty. Cohesive teams build unity, nurture relationships, increase job satisfaction, and provide a means for mentoring and supporting teachers and administrators. When teachers work together in teams, they coach each other, learn from one another, and share their expertise in specific areas. This cohesive dynamic—in which everyone plays a role and is valued—provides them with a safe space to refine their practices to improve student outcomes. Some of the greatest teams in history won consistently because they had a cohesive team. These teams may have had one or two superstars, but they won consistently because of their role players. The highest performing schools have teachers who understand that these are all our kids, and that we are in this together. A cohesive school team is unified while working toward a goal and while also satisfying the emotional needs of its members.
