ABSTRACT
The Introduction summarizes the main topics of the book and briefly contextualizes it within the historical and political landscape of Italy. After geographically locating Northern Italy within the European continent, it introduces the methodology used to collect the 600 hours of audio- and video-recorded data that are used for the author’s project on narrative practices around migrants and migration issues in Northern Italy. The Introduction also clarifies how the transcription of these data has been carried out together with the various challenges encountered in the process. The Introduction ends with a description of the book structure and an outline of the five chapters and the conclusion included in Intimacies of Exclusion.
