ABSTRACT

This chapter purposes of suggesting relationships between an investigation and the media text; it is not an exhaustive list. The language investigation coursework is in many ways the culmination of all of the students' learning on the course so far. It is also one of the most exciting moments for students and teachers. Students can devise investigations that generate new written or spoken data. The kind of data required is highly dependent on the investigation. The essential categories of data are qualitative and quantitative. There are two main sources of data that can be acquired or generated by research: written and spoken. OCR asks for the production of an 'academic poster' to demonstrate the outcome of a personal investigation into a topic of interest. This does provide a good opportunity for our students to share the findings of their investigations. It also makes strong preparation for university style seminars.
