ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 establishes a routine of thorough evaluation of one's teaching. It begins with a structured approach to self-evaluation after class meetings and at the conclusion of a course. Reflection worksheets are provided to record and track successes and areas of concern. The reader is encouraged to seek out peer evaluation beyond those which may occur as part of a formal tenure process and an evaluation worksheet is provided for use by an informal reviewer. Soliciting student evaluations early is recommended. A sample mid-term evaluation form and a worksheet to summarize and foster analysis of student course evaluations are provided. The chapter ends with a brief discussion on pursuing pedagogical education and implementing a practice of recording professional development activities.
