ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 locates ABR within WS research, noting how the field’s current needs and interests can be filled with ABR. The chapter focuses on how, in challenging existing paradigms, WS has a history of using ABR. The chapter ends with a glimpse into the contemporary arts-based writing movement and encourages readers/researchers to add to that movement.
