ABSTRACT

Chapter 4 discusses methodological disclosure in ABR, an essential practice of critical reflection that researchers must engage in if they want to conduct ABR, particularly since many creative liberties are taken, and, broadly speaking, more reflection is needed to advance understanding about the strengths and challenges of ABR and to further establish its credibility as a viable form of knowledge production. This chapter speaks about the ethics of aesthetic decision-making and using the arts to conduct research with/about marginalized and vulnerable people. The chapter concludes with a note about the challenges that ABR scholars face, particularly assessment, and offers researchers possible strategies for addressing those issues.
