ABSTRACT

This chapter concentrates mainly on examining Henry V but also discusses 1, 2 and 3 Henry VI and Richard III, plays written before those about from Richard II, Henry IV and Henry V. When examining the language of kingship and foreign wars in Henry V, this analysis focuses on, among other things, Henry disguised and debating Williams and Bates in IV.i. and the king’s Crispin Crispian speech in IV.iii. Some of the keys to this chapter are the king and war, and whether a war is a possible good for Christians and any Christian leader, in other words whether a war involving Christians be just.
