ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the practical approaches of starting small and finding space in which to work and the time to complete that work. In terms of space, topics discussed include private project labs, digital humanities labs, makerspaces, and general coworking spaces. Topics discussed with respect to finding time include deadlines, administrative delays, and starting small with a project. Spotlighted projects include the Digital Matters Lab at the University of Utah, Paul Fyfe’s work on makerspace, Ryan Cordell’s philosophy of starting small, and the importance of guides, project management, and project handbooks.
