ABSTRACT

Several of the truss examples studied in Chapter 4 are re-worked in the GeoGebra parametric drawing environment. The unambiguous intersection of fixed length elements is an important concept in the form finding of any stable truss, and this concept is studied in detail. This chapter presents a shortcut, known as the “rigid polygon method” which greatly speeds up any parametric drawing of trusses. All of the principles of two-dimensional, planar trusses are easily transferred to three-dimensional, spatial structures in this chapter. The chapter closes with several études for deeper study and practice.
