Started in Toronto by Jack MacLaren in 1935, from the branch office of Detroit, Michigan–based Campbell-Ewald that he had opened in Toronto in 1922; acquired the Norris-Patterson Agency in 1942; purchased Goodis, Goldberg, Soren, 1975; acquired by LintasWorldwide (Interpublic Group of Companies) in 1988 and became MacLaren:Lintas; assumed control of McCann-Erickson, Toronto, and renamed MacLaren McCann, Toronto, 1995.
