ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the grant application is where teacher get a chance to tell the grant funder what will change after the project is completed. What will the students know then that they don't know now? What will they be able to do then that they can't do now? Will the students create something tangible? Teacher's objectives need to also address curriculum standards and show how the proposed activity will further student learning. Other applications will want more detailed information: List at least two specific skills, behaviors, or new knowledge students will gain from this project. The chapter describes the goals and objectives from a grant application through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs for arts in education residency school was proposing to do with Michigan Opera Theatre: Creating an original opera is by its very nature an interdisciplinary activity. Students will be challenged to create an opera from a story line out of their textbooks.
