ABSTRACT

A typical classroom teacher, the budget is probably the most difficult part of any grant application, may be because it's a difficult part of everyday life to manage as well. Teacher’s training and experience as a teacher are a great help to them as they plan project activities, determine objectives, make connections to the curriculum, and evaluate the effectiveness of their grant-funded project. Most application directions will remind applicants to be as accurate as possible when determining costs. It's not good to pad the budget with excessive costs or frivolous items, mainly because it indicates the project won't be implemented well. On the other hand, they need to include everything and be as accurate as possible with costs so they don't come up short. Some programs want to be the sole funder of teacher’s project; other programs don't care, but they want to know where they are getting the rest of the money for their project.
