ABSTRACT

Another hot topic within secondary schools is the effects of transition and transfer of students from primary education, to their new secondary school. This can have severe detrimental effects for Physical Education, such as the myths and rumours which can be fostered around changing room procedures and strict behaviour policies compared to what students have been used to within their primary school. Various strategies can be employed to support students throughout this process. This chapter investigates ways in which PE can contribute to this whole-school priority, with practical examples used to support each idea.
