ABSTRACT

One thing that should have become clear as you have read through these chapters is that even for teachers who understand the benefits of peer interaction and are committed to integrating peer learning opportunities into their teaching, doing peer interaction in the classroom is a balancing act and for this reason it can be a bit daunting. While we have tried to make this book as practical as possible, we also know that readers may arrive at this chapter still with questions about using peer interaction as part of what they do. Your questions are likely to be similar to those that we have heard from pre-service and in-service language teachers we have met with who work in a variety of teaching settings. We’ve designed this chapter to directly answer questions that we frequently hear from educators about peer interaction. Our hope is that by providing answers to these questions we will allow you to understand how peer interaction can work in your own teaching situation.
