ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 investigates the resilience process of floating children and left-behind children within the school context. It has a particular focus on the role of physical activity in building resilience of these children. Working through picture works, essay samples, interviews, and online surveys, the chapter conceptualises physical activity as school-based pedagogic work and educational socialisation that nurture the resilience process of floating children and left-behind children. Participation in physical activities has positive contributions to the subjective wellbeing, peer relations, and social engagement of floating children and left-behind children in adverse contexts.
