ABSTRACT
Lithuanian particles do not have an independent lexical meaning, but they supplement the expression of thought with additional nuances of meaning. In a sentence they often go before the word or the phrase they modify the meaning of, but it is not a rule. Intonation can determine a lot: the particle can add nuances to the word or the phrase that is stressed by intonation when speaking.
