ABSTRACT

Lithuanian question sentences can be formed with interrogative particles or without them. In spoken language a rising intonation is important. Questions can be different: one type is used to verify information, another type is used to find out specific information, while a third type can be used as rhetorical means. Depending on these functions, usually general, special and rhetorical questions can be distinguished. Also, the so-called title questions should be mentioned, those used in question-form titles. The structure of question sentences depends on their type.
