ABSTRACT

Numerals are words that express the number of things or the specific place in an enumeration. Depending on their meaning and grammatical features, numerals are divided into cardinal and ordinal. Cardinal numerals indicate abstract numbers or the quantity of things expressed in numbers, e.g. vienas (m.), vienà (f.) ‘one’, dù (m.), dvi, (f.) ‘two’, try˜s ‘three’, de˜šimt ‘ten’. Ordinal numerals indicate an entity’s place in a series, e.g. pirmas ‘first’, añtras ‘second’.
