ABSTRACT

Many theme parks - and other large visitor destinations - have education centres that will arrange talks and provide resources linked to particular aspects of the curriculum and qualifications. By making these connections, the time involved in planning the trip is reduced significantly and improves the quality of the experience for teachers' learners. Another way of developing the capacity of the department in terms of human resources comes from working with those who are training to become teachers. The incentives for schools to be involved in the delivery of teacher training have increased, including the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy on employers and the apprenticeship route into teaching. An underused resource is often the exam boards themselves. They provide a wide range of resources: specifications, schemes of work, and subject specific materials. The specifications and resources will give guidance on what they think a good course looks like and what they want learners to achieve through studying that course.
