ABSTRACT

This chapter tells the story of the best Inset day the author has ever run, as the growth mindset ethos trialled in Chapter 4 was rolled out to the whole staff. Alongside a detailed session plan, including the contents of the growth mindset launch, the chapter begins to explore the principles of educational leadership which underpin the ethos, including the NASA principle and the story of the three stonemasons. The chapter explains how to introduce the concept of growth and fixed mindsets, how to explain the neuroscience of learning, and how to involve all staff in the formation and implementation of a growth mindset ethos and culture.
