ABSTRACT

Compassion is a marvel of human nature, a precious inner resource, and the foundation of teachers well-being and the harmony of teachers societies. If, therefore, teachers seek happiness for themselves, teachers should practice compassion; and if teachers seek happiness for others, teachers should also practice compassion! There is something deeply elementary about the desire to be connected to others, and to feel that others wish to connect with students. This mutually reciprocal linking is known by different names, but for teachers purposes, teachers will focus on friendships. Teachers need for attachment has contributed to the rise in social media usage among children and teens, and in the age of the "selfie," children thinking about others as much as themselves seems strange. Teaching and strengthening the qualities and attributes of friendship is both possible and positive. Often, when people reflect on their own capacity to behave in a compassionate manner, they face dilemmas.
