ABSTRACT

This chapter talks about the personal story of Kelli B. Grant, a personal finance and consumer reporter at CFP. She holds a master's degree in personal financial planning from Kansas State University and a bachelor's degree in journalism and anthropology from Ithaca College. She is also a certified financial planner. She approached journalism with a single-minded determination, becoming editor for both her middle and high school papers, and contributing to one of the local papers. When people ask her how she got into writing about personal finance they usually assume she has a business background, but she crash-landed into the beat. She learned right along with her readers, and often tailored pieces to money questions she had. As she learned more about financial journalism, she grew to love the subject matter — and just recently went back to school to get a master's degree in personal financial planning.
