ABSTRACT
This chapter talks about Lexy Cruz, a news producer at KDFW-Fox4 News in Dallas, Texas. She wants to protect the needs of those who depend on the government, law enforcement or other organizations. She wants to protect the sanctity of downright facts. There was no time to think about herself that week. She was focused on what the audience needed, what information certain counties were looking for, what her neighbors were asking about. She was lucky to have this experience and feel like her work really made an impact. Her obsession with social media and digital-first news helped rocket me from market 113 to 5. She can truly see the impact when she hear people mention certain moments in coverage or see stories shared between her aunts or high school friends. She previously produced on-air and online content in Augusta, Georgia at WRDW. She is passionate about keeping ethical journalism alive and seizing media platforms ahead of its audience.
