ABSTRACT

The author tells to read the book 'The Odd Egg' to the children. He stresses to return to the first page where the robin and the flamingo have made nests for their eggs. The pictures of both nests are roughly accurate and as the robin and the flamingo are the most distinctive nest builders of this group of birds. The author tells to discuss with children how some eggs develop into chicks and yet others the authors eat and they are not alive. Some children will cover their eggs in a thermal insulator such as fleece and also place the wrapped egg in a warm place such as on a radiator. Using the information supplied with the programme, explain how the incubator will keep the eggs at exactly the right temperature. Then prepare to spend the next few days with children in a state of high excitement and engagement as the eggs begin to hatch.
