ABSTRACT

This chapter is devoted to getting your students to critically evaluate their own thinking, their own judgements, and the thinking and judgements of others. Specifically, we will discuss metacognition and the relative value of evidence. All of this background will inform a final set of “Thinking Tasks” that you can use in your classroom to help ensure students are truly reflecting on their lessons and the level of certainty their results can provide. I also show you how to use the Thinking Tasks through several examples. We will look back at several example activities discussed in previous chapters and see how to improve them even further by incorporating metacognitive questioning.
