ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 discusses the developmental course and outcome of ADHD across the life span, from infancy to adulthood. The differences in the manifestation of ADHD in each developmental stage are outlined and the primary difficulties of the individual over time are highlighted. Finally, risk and resilience factors that appear to be associated with the functioning of individuals with ADHD are reviewed. Predictive factors in childhood that lead to persistence or remittance of ADHD in adulthood are also presented.
