ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the recording process, how to gather the pieces of audio necessary to make a podcast episode. Authenticity is the coin of the realm in the podcasting world, so a podcaster should strive to create content that the audience will perceive is authentic. When a podcaster sits down to record his/her first podcast, he/she needs a structure in place to guide what they are going to record. A podcaster has to be able to go where the conversation takes him/her. But he/she also has to be an informed host. One of the great pleasures of being a journalist is getting the opportunity to train new reporters or interns. Ask questions that draw people out, Nelson said, and keep the questions simple. According to Alpert, the key to conducting a good interview is to be a curious person.
