ABSTRACT

Good trainers recognise that the actual training they deliver only plays a small (but significant) part in whether it is deemed ‘good’ or ‘useful’ in the minds of participants – if there are no handouts then it is ‘thumbs down’; if the lunch is poor then it is a ☹ on the evaluation form! Interestingly, the space in which participants are trained also serves as a key factor to the perceived success of your training and what participants actually learn in it. In this Snapshot we briefly consider:

the basic components of an effective learning space;

different kinds of learning space that can be made for adults in a typical training room;

ways to maximise participant learning in the learning space.
