ABSTRACT

Teachers should always have classroom libraries because it makes the room look welcoming, with stories from people from around the world right in your reach. A warm, cozy place will make kids feel more welcome. A few pillows, some comfortable chairs or bean bags will interest students in having a good book to read. A class library will be an excellent choice because then one good book and a comfy seat will inspire them to read. Children choose where they sit and whom they work with; if they make poor choices, the teachers handle it on a case-by-case basis. Many teachers plan for flow and natural collaboration, but not as many plan for quiet. During their independent reading time every year, inevitably there is a child who moves far away from others and then tries to hide his or her whereabouts.
