ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the nature of acquiring a second language and how different approaches focus on different variables. Then, it presents the aim of this book, which is to find out the path of development in Arabic L2 and compare the results to PT predictions. Furthermore, this chapter presents a context to processability theory as an SLA theory and its relationship to the speech processor. At the end, the chapter briefly introduces the implications of this research in terms of theory development and applied practice.
