ABSTRACT

Triangulation is a flexible technique that presents many advantages, which can be easily extended to corpus based-translation studies. In this chapter, the main principles and types of triangulation, as understood in the social sciences, are introduced and applied to corpus-based translation studies to develop the main framework of corpus triangulation. Two distinct types of corpus triangulation are identified: corpus data and corpus method. Readers can also find a discussion of the multiple advantages of triangulation in general, and corpus triangulation in particular, as well as an examination of their limitations, together with ways in which such limitations can be minimised.
